The Youth Social Work (YSW) at Sonnenschule St. Georgen is undergoing an expansion, a decision made by the Youth Welfare Committee in a recent meeting. The school management submitted an application for the expansion due to an increase in student numbers, particularly among children and young people who grow up under difficult conditions and lack family support.
The expansion project is a collaborative effort by the district, state, and local city authorities. The Traunstein district will contribute approximately 104,000 euros towards the costs, providing 50% of the funding. The Free State of Bavaria will contribute around 24,540 euros, which is 40% of the funding. The city of Traunreut, as the responsible authority, will cover around 32,000 euros of the expansion costs, providing the remaining 10%.
The YSW aims to support these children and young people who often exhibit unspecified challenges. The annual cost of the expansion is now estimated to be around 160,000 euros, a significant increase from the previous 100,000 euros.
