AI in Education: OpenAI Launches Global Faculty Resource Library; Curtin University Drops Turnitin's AI Tool

OpenAI has made waves with a new global faculty resource library, while Curtin University has decided to phase out Turnitin's AI writing detection tool. Meanwhile, tech giants like Google and Microsoft have launched initiatives to promote AI education and accessibility.

OpenAI's latest project is a global faculty resource library, featuring over 300 professors contributing videos on classroom-tested AI uses across 30 subjects. This initiative aims to provide educators with practical tools to integrate AI into their teaching.

In other news, Curtin University has announced plans to ditch Turnitin's AI writing detection tool by 2026. The university cited accuracy concerns and a desire to rebuild student trust as reasons for the decision.

Google has introduced AI Quests, an interactive learning program for students aged 11 to 14. This program allows students to explore real-world AI challenges such as flood forecasting and diabetic retinopathy.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has expanded access to AI education through its AI Challenge. The company is offering free Copilot access and new educator grants, along with expanded access to LinkedIn AI courses and the Elevate program.

The Gates Foundation has launched the AI Fellows program, aiming to embed machine learning talent into global health, education, and development teams for one year.

First Student has installed Samsara's AI-powered safety technology across 46,000 school buses. This addition includes predictive analytics, driver monitoring, and hazard alerts to enhance school bus safety.

These developments reflect a growing emphasis on AI integration in education and safety. As AI continues to evolve, so too will its role in various sectors, from academia to transportation.
