Writer's Digest University and Script University Announce Exciting New Screenwriting Courses

Writer's Digest University, in partnership with Script University, is set to offer a range of expert-taught courses focused on screenplay treatment and feature film writing. Here's a glimpse of the upcoming offerings:

21 Days to Your Screenplay Treatment (August 7 - 28, 2025)

Led by Bryan Young, this course provides a step-by-step approach to create a screenplay treatment. It includes written lectures, writing exercises, and personalized instructor feedback. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong treatment and a solid log line vetted by an industry professional.

Beginning Feature Film Writing: Complete Course (Starting August 14, 2025)

Donald H. Hewitt leads this 12-week course, guiding students through building a feature film script from outline to all screenplay acts. The course focuses on skill development, expert writing critique, and includes self-tests for reinforcing lecture content.

The Nitty Gritty of Spec (August 28 - September 4, 2025)

In this one-week intensive course, Dave Trottier, a produced screenwriter and author of The Screenwriter's Bible, teaches students how to write strong action and dialogue for spec scripts. At the end of the course, Dave Trottier will evaluate five pages of a participant's spec script.

Prepping Your Screenplays to Win Competitions Intensive (August 21 - September 4, 2025)

This one-week intensive course, led by Rebecca Norris Resnick, teaches specific ways to improve the readability, dialogue, and structure of scripts for contests.

Write Your Drama Pilot in Six Weeks

In this course, students learn the tools professional screenwriters use to finish high-quality scripts. Although the start date is yet to be announced, interested individuals can look forward to learning from industry experts.

Live Webinar: Developing Healthy Writing Habits (August 7, 2025)

Script doctor Cody Smart hosts a 3-hour live webinar on developing healthy writing habits. The webinar provides access to the archived version and materials for one year. Attendees can chat with the instructor during the live event and ask questions.

Writing the Series Bible (August 28 - September 25, 2025)

Lynn Grant Beck leads this course, helping participants develop a TV series premise, pilot, and series bible.
