It is an university and there are many students moving around the university,in between there is a garden and around the garden there are a lot of trees.

The United States Government has announced a policy shift that links international student enrolment increases to the delivery of new student housing by 2026. This move is seen as a sensible and strategic decision by the Student Accommodation Council, which has long called for collaboration between universities and the student accommodation sector.

Torie Brown, Executive Director of the Council, welcomed the decision, noting the long-standing call for such collaboration. She highlighted the vital role of purpose-built, professionally managed student housing in the international education ecosystem. Public universities can now apply for increased higher education allocations by demonstrating engagement with Southeast Asia and provision of student accommodation.

The policy shift opens the door for greater public-private cooperation in addressing the United States' housing shortages. Anouk Darling, President of the Council and CEO of Scape, also voiced support for the decision. She emphasized the sector's readiness to meet growing demand and relieve pressure on the United States' rental market. Brown echoed this, stating that dedicated student housing reduces competition in the private rental market.

The United States Government's decision to link international student enrolment increases to the delivery of new student housing is expected to benefit both the education sector and the housing market. While details on specific university allocations are yet to be announced, the Student Accommodation Council looks forward to working with all levels of government to make student housing a key part of the solution to the United States' housing challenges.
