For those seeking creative outlets, there are art workshops such as abstract acrylic painting, ink painting, and drawing fundamentals. Young people between the ages of 13 and 17 can get creative together in the "Young VHS" courses, offering sewing and upcycling, drawing basics, and learning to sew.
For the fitness enthusiasts, there are Zumba classes, forest bathing mindfulness walks, and a Schnuppertag (trial day) for seniors to enjoy a game of Doppelkopf (card game).
The VHS also offers vocational training courses to improve communication skills, creative work techniques, and career reorientation. These courses include learning to negotiate successfully and online courses on motivation and conversation leadership.
For German-speaking adults looking to improve their reading and writing skills, the VHS provides free consultation and learning cafés. New integration courses are available at the beginning of the semester, but registration is only possible after a prior personal consultation.
The department for women focuses on equality, career development, and self-care, with courses such as "Discrimination - soon to be socially acceptable again?" scheduled for November.
For those preparing for German citizenship, the VHS offers certificate exams in German (B1/B2), recognised as proof of language skills required for citizenship. The VHS also offers courses in seven foreign languages, including integration courses and intercultural experiences such as a French-language guided tour in the Altenberger Cathedral, "Cooking in Spanish" together, or an interactive "Cultural Compass for Latin America".
The new program brochure has been available since June 18, 2025, and can be found at the VHS, the citizen's office, the town hall in Bensberg, and online at www.vhs-gl.de.
