CAA Adapts to Pandemic with Hybrid Labs, Remote Advising

The Central Academic Advising (CAA) has adapted to the pandemic by developing innovative hybrid and remote lab solutions, ensuring uninterrupted hands-on learning. These formats, which emerged during the pandemic-driven digital learning process, are set to continue post-pandemic. Meanwhile, CAA staff remain accessible via digital means, benefiting students who cannot easily travel to the university.

Before the pandemic, Kristin Busch's work at the CAA primarily involved on-site meetings and events. However, these have since shifted online, with digital meetings offering advantages such as reduced time requirements and increased flexibility in location. New digital formats like 'Virtual Student Talk' and online information days have emerged during this time. Busch, who provides academic advice to students and prospective students across subject boundaries, encourages students to find positivity in the situation, such as not having to attend early lectures in person. She also appreciates the enforced deceleration and increased time with family due to canceled appointments. Even after the pandemic, digital formats are expected to coexist with on-site offers.

The CAA office has not offered on-site open office hours for a year due to the pandemic. However, digital advising formats have proven beneficial, particularly for students who cannot easily travel to the university. These formats, along with new digital initiatives, are set to continue post-pandemic, coexisting with traditional on-site offers.
