In the realm of academic records, it is essential to maintain accuracy and order. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has outlined specific guidelines for corrections in candidates' names, dates of birth, and parents' or guardians' names on marksheets. Here's a breakdown of the key points:

1. Corrections in a candidate's name or date of birth, as well as parents' or guardians' names, must be submitted within one year of the date of result declaration.

2. For changes in a candidate's name or surname, a court order and notification in the Government Gazette before result publication are required.

3. The True Copy of the School Leaving Certificate of the previous school, submitted by parents at the time of admission, duly attested by the Head of the concerned institution, is necessary.

4. The True copy of the portion of the page of the admission and withdrawal register of the school where the entry has been made in respect of the candidate, duly attested by the Head of the concerned institution, is also required.

5. The process for correcting a candidate's name or date of birth involves depositing the specified fee and verification of original school records by the board. The fee for correcting a candidate's name on a CBSE marksheet or certificate is INR 1,000. The fee for correcting a guardian's name or a parent's name on a CBSE marksheet or certificate is INR 1,000 plus the actual document cost.

6. No corrections in date of birth will be made if the application is submitted after one year from the date of result declaration.

7. Fees for services related to marksheet and result queries such as re-evaluation, photocopy of answer sheets, and verification of marks are different and usually charged per subject or per question. For instance, re-evaluation fees are around INR 100 per question, verification is INR 500 per subject, and photocopies cost INR 500–700 per subject.

8. Applications for changes in the name or surname of candidates in CBSE Marksheet Correction 2025 may be considered under specific circumstances.

9. The application for name corrections must be forwarded by the Head of the Institution and should be accompanied by the documents mentioned in bye-laws 69.2(iii).

For the most accurate and updated fee details, it is advised to check CBSE's official website or contact CBSE directly, as fees may vary based on case specifics and administrative guidelines.
