Cisco & University of Canberra Team Up to Boost Australian Cybersecurity

Cisco and the University of Canberra have joined forces to bolster cybersecurity awareness in Australia. The partnership will integrate a Research Chair in Defence & Critical Infrastructure into the National Industry Innovation Network (NIIN), leveraging Cisco's global security clout. This move aims to tackle cybersecurity skills shortages and secure critical infrastructure across the nation.

The collaboration recognises Canberra's significance in cybersecurity policy, skills, and operations. It will see the University of Canberra and Innovation Central Canberra join the NIIN, fostering digital innovation and economic growth. The focus is on Defence and critical infrastructure, enabling companies to trial new technologies and collaborate on applied research.

Ben Dawson, Vice President of Cisco in Australia and New Zealand, is supporting this initiative. The Australian Government is backing the NIIN to accelerate technology adoption and mitigate risks to the economy and society.

The Research Chair in Defence & Critical Infrastructure will benefit from Cisco's global partnerships and capabilities. By integrating into the NIIN, it will help address cybersecurity skills shortages and secure Australia's critical infrastructure. This partnership underscores Canberra's role in shaping the nation's cybersecurity landscape.
