Commemorative events at the prestigious institution: Marking a century of its existence
Schloss Neubeuern, a prestigious boarding school with a rich history dating back to 1925, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary (centennial) from July 20th to 27th, 2025. This milestone marks a century of providing education and boarding experiences, signifying its longstanding tradition and significant role in the educational landscape.
The grand celebration took place in the Rolf-Braun sports hall, with around 360 students, employees, parents, and guests in attendance. The event was filled with speeches, performances, and exhibitions that highlighted the school's unique boarding school environment, heritage, and contemporary significance.
Gabriele Kiermeier from the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture spoke with great respect about the bond of the Neubeuuren community with its school. He emphasised the school's philosophy of fostering an attitude, demanding performance, and living community. Dr. Thomas Struengmann, a former student and member of the Schloss Neubeuern scholarship foundation, was honoured on this special occasion.
The theatre piece "Schlossmoments - a castle tells a story" was performed during the celebration. The teacher team Christina Antholzner, Matthias Friedel, Felix Baumann, Helga Kaußen-Mandelartz, and Christina Rothmayer worked closely with a 24-member student group for the production. The performance was a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing creativity and talent in its students.
Dr. Struengmann also emphasised the importance of tolerance in his speech. Jörg Schönfeld, one of the foundation's presidents, highlighted the challenges faced by the school over the past century, including political crises, economic volatility, demographic changes, and preservation of the property. Despite these challenges, Schloss Neubeuern has managed to maintain its prestige and cultural legacy.
Susanne Schoerghuber, the head of the boarding school, thanked everyone for their contributions to the jubilee year and invited guests to the reception and exhibitions. A chronological timeline of Schloss Neubeuern's 100-year history is on display, growing since January with a decade added each month. The timeline provides an insight into the school's evolution and achievements over the years.
The chairwoman of the parents' council, Dr. med. Anna-Karina Mehl, and the chairwoman of the student council, Alina Kraus, spoke emotionally about Schloss Neubeuern as a second home and a crucial preparation for exploring the world. They expressed the parents' desire to continue supporting Schloss Neubeuern's unique values - responsibility, curiosity, and community spirit.
Landrat Otto Lederer encouraged the school to intensify its engagement in natural sciences. Despite bad weather, the guests enjoyed the beautiful south terrace with its view of the Inn valley, celebrating their Neubeuern roots and expanding their horizons through exchange with many friends.
Schloss Neubeuern's history begins in the early 20th century, and its centennial milestone emphasises its enduring presence and importance as a private boarding school with a cultural and educational heritage in Germany.
