Newcomers Embrace Opportunities in Pforzheim's Thriving Educational Sector
Pforzheim, a major economic and industrial hub, welcomed 82 new apprentices, interns, and students to its vibrant educational landscape. The city, renowned for its jewelry and watch-making industries, offers ample opportunities in skilled trades related to metals and precision mechanics.
Mayor Frank Fillbrunn addressed the newcomers, expressing his delight at their arrival. He emphasized the importance of sustained learning readiness as the key to success. Fillbrunn also highlighted the need for flexibility and continuous learning in the upcoming challenges.
The event, held in the Middle Hall of the Congress Centre, featured a diverse program. It included lectures and a digital city rally with puzzle stations, facilitated via an app. The rally was designed to provide fun and excitement, as well as learning interesting facts about Pforzheim's history.
The digital rally was the brainchild of apprentice Philina Gross. She created the puzzle stations for the event, adding an interactive element to the proceedings.
The newly introduced "Direct Entry KiTa" qualification program was exceptionally well-received, attracting a further 8 people. Alongside 15 full-time educators, 9 colleagues started part-time training. A total of 41 new colleagues have started in the KiTa area, with 9 trainees in recognition practice.
The city is particularly proud of the increase in educational professions. This growth is supported by several key success factors. The strong local economic foundation, specialized training schools, and partnerships between educational institutions and local industry create a conducive environment for new apprentices, interns, and students.

The collaborations between local companies and schools, like the educational partnership between Witzenmann GmbH and Kepler-Gymnasium Pforzheim, foster practical training environments and signal strong support for education aligned with industry needs.
The presence of specialized educational institutions such as the Nicolas G. Hayek Watchmaking School in Pforzheim trains professional watchmakers and customer service specialists for the watch industry. Graduates from this school have clear career pathways into industry leaders like the Swatch Group, with several former students illustrating successful transitions into technical and managerial roles locally.
