Conservatory Instruction, Practices, and Educational Tours for Faculty Members

Nurturing close bonds with faculty members is integral to our conservatory's atmosphere. We strongly encourage students to reach out to professors or academics specializing in their areas of study to arrange lessons or discussions.

Conservatory Instruction, Practices, and Educational Tours for Faculty Members

Welcome to Our Conservatory! If you're considering joining our esteemed institution, we encourage you to get a taste of the musical and intellectual life here by observing classes and rehearsals.

To start, we recommend introducing yourself to the professor and requesting permission to observe. You can do this by sending an email to schedule an in-person or virtual lesson. However, please note that during academic breaks, some professors may be off campus, and not all classes may be able to accommodate visitors. So, it's a good idea to have another class option ready.

Once you've secured permission, we advise you to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the start of a rehearsal or class. This gives you time to settle in and prepare for the experience. It's also a great opportunity to meet other students and discuss the class before it begins.

During your visit, we ask that you stay for the duration of the rehearsal or class, or until a break. This ensures that you get a full understanding of the class dynamics and the musical pieces being performed.

For Jazz Studies students, we recommend visiting campus on a Friday during classes. If you're interested in saxophone, percussion, or trumpet, we suggest emailing Julie Baker, the administrative assistant for the Jazz Studies Division, for trial lessons or meetings with the relevant professors.

Remember, our conservatory experience emphasizes close mentoring relationships. So, don't hesitate to ask questions about class duration or other details. You can reach out to the Office of Conservatory Admissions at conservatory.admissions@our website for more information.

Lastly, we remind you that due to small class sizes and expected visitors, only prospective students are allowed to attend classes. Rehearsals and classroom visits are valuable experiences that can help you make an informed decision about your future at Our Conservatory.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community!
