Continuation of aid for India by former Vechelder pastor Father Sabu
In the wake of Adolf Bialas' passing, his daughter, Juliana Freiberg, has taken the helm of the "North-East India Aid Action," a project dedicated to supporting impoverished communities in the region.
Bialas, a renowned figure for his charitable work, attributed his success in fundraising to his persistence and the "respect and gratitude" he felt towards Father Sabukuttan Francis, also known as "Pater Sabu."
The "North-East India Aid Action" has recently made a significant impact, with additional 75,000 euros in donation funds used to aid the population in North-East India affected by COVID-19. This contribution expanded a boarding school for girls and boys in India, including a two-story dormitory for 100 boys, a learning hall, dining hall, kitchen, and a multifunctional building serving as a church and auditorium.
Juliana Freiberg, a high school teacher at Vechelde, believes education is key to escaping poverty. She is leading the "North-East India Aid Action" and is asking for the population's support to continue this important work.
One of the project's key objectives is the construction of a new school in the village of Sandagre, Meghalaya. The current school, a bamboo shack, lacks sanitary facilities, running water, classrooms, a teacher's room, and office space. A three-story Massivbauweise extension with 12 classrooms was also built at the "Franz-von-Sales School" in the parish of Sommonpara, ten kilometers away from Sandagre Village.
Father Sabukuttan Francis, an active figure in North East India (Assam), ensures that the donations reach the right place. He is working tirelessly to ensure the success of the "North-East India Aid Action" and the improvement of education in the region.
Juliana Freiberg hopes that construction for the new school in Sandagre Village can begin as early as the end of this year, at the latest in 2026. The new school will be a stone building with four classrooms, costing 48,000 euros.
Adolf Bialas was honoured with the Federal Republic of Germany's Order of Merit in 2018 for his commitment to aid in North-East India. His work, now continued by his daughter, is a testament to his dedication and the positive impact it has had on the lives of many.
