Durham Welcomes ZNU Students in Growing Partnership
Durham University has welcomed a group of scholars from Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU) as guest students for the autumn of 2023. This visit is part of a growing partnership between the two institutions, which includes a Memorandum of Understanding signed by their law schools and a joint research programme funded by Universities UK International (UUKi).
The partnership has seen over 40 visitors from ZNU spend time at Durham University over the summer, engaging in joint research projects and best practice sharing. Ten students from ZNU will now study at Durham for a specific duration, starting in autumn 2023. The universities have identified mutual research interests, including memory politics, post-conflict urban renewal, mental health, legal aspects of conflict, global justice, and internal displacement.
The partnership has been strengthened by a visit from ZNU Vice-Rector Professor Sergiy Kushnir, who met with Durham Vice-Chancellor Karen O'Brien to discuss the long-term collaboration. A delegation of ZNU professional staff also visited Durham to explore areas of collaboration such as energy, student wellbeing, and internationalisation.
Durham University's partnership with Zaporizhzhia National University continues to grow, with ten students from ZNU set to study at Durham in autumn 2023. The collaboration has seen joint research projects, best practice sharing, and high-level discussions, with both institutions looking to strengthen their ties in the long term.
