Explore Migrant Identity at 'A Dialogue About Self-Discovery' in Duisburg
On Tuesday, November 4, at 6 pm, the Center for Remembrance Culture in Duisburg hosts a literary evening titled 'A DIALOGUE ABOUT SELF-DISCOVERY'. The event, part of the 'DIALOGUE' series, explores migrant identity through the works of renowned authors Raphaëlle Red and Kathrin Schrocke. Admission is 5 euros, payable in cash only, and registration is possible via the website or by phone.
Red's novel 'Adikou' follows a young woman's journey of self-discovery as she navigates her identity between France, Togo, and the USA. Schrocke's 'White Tears' delves into the experiences of a 16-year-old dealing with everyday racism and his own privileges. The event will be moderated by Anabelle Assaf, a translator, editor, and literary agent. The literary evening is a cooperation between the literature region network and the Center for Remembrance Culture, funded by the NRW Foundation.
Join Raphaëlle Red and Kathrin Schrocke as they discuss migrant identity and the roles of origin and skin color in the emergence of identity. The event promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of self-discovery and belonging.
