"Explore the yearning for the divine with Jerry Root in a complimentary advanced course centered on C.S. Lewis"
Join the upcoming FOCL Master Class on Saturday, 7 December, as we delve into the world of C.S. Lewis and his exploration of the human desire for God and spiritual fulfillment in a session titled "C.S. Lewis and the longing for God: The Gospel and deep felt need".
This 3-hour and a half-long event, held on the Zoom platform, will be taught by Jerry Root, professor of Evangelism and Leadership at Wheaton College and director of the Evangelism Initiative. Participants can join the master class from the comfort of their homes or in groups from church settings.
The FOCL states that embedded in each of us are deep-felt needs that, when properly understood, reveal the heart's quest for God. This master class aims to deepen participants' appreciation of Lewis’s spiritual insights and their relevance to personal faith journeys.
The class will likely examine Lewis's approach to faith, his portrayal of longing and desire as a pathway to understanding God, and how his works invite readers to contemplate the divine. It will also explore these deep-felt needs and how to segue from the topic of longings to a presentation of the Gospel.
The master class is published in Evangelical Focus's "culture" section and registration is free and open to all. More information about the #OneMoreYearEF campaign, which aims to gather those committed to Evangelical Focus's mission across Europe and beyond, can be found on Evangelical Focus's website.
It's worth noting that the Forum of Christian Leaders (FOCL) is also the organiser of the annual European Leadership Forum conference in Wisla, Poland. The master class will include a time for questions and answers, making it an excellent opportunity to engage with the topic and the teacher.
