City Sparkasse Solingen Welcomes 21 New Apprentices

On August 1st, City Sparkasse Solingen is set to welcome 21 new apprentices, marking the beginning of their exciting journey in the banking sector. The new cohort includes 15 apprentices who will be starting their apprenticeship as bank clerks in various branches, two young women as dialog marketing clerks in the customer service center, and four dual students in the field of general management.

The apprenticeship kicks off with an intensive induction week, designed to provide a smooth transition into the working environment. Jelena Baum, the training manager, expresses her delight at the new recruits and promises great commitment and personal guidance from the start.

During the induction week, the trainees will gain initial insights into practice, get to know each other, and meet their trainers. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the diverse tasks within the Sparkasse from colleagues across different departments. A highlight of the induction week is a one-day outdoor team training session at the Kulturbeutel Wermelskirchen, focusing on team spirit, communication, and collaboration.

The new apprentices will also receive business etiquette training, customer basics, and comprehensive IT training to ensure they are equipped to handle the technical systems from day one. A scavenger hunt organized by second-year apprentices will promote playful learning and orientation within the Sparkasse.

The induction week culminates in the 'Apprentice Fit Day' at the Sportpark Solingen, which focuses on movement, fun, and health, and strengthens the apprentices' team spirit. The trainees will also develop a professional demeanor during this period.

For those interested in applying for the 2026 apprenticeship year, more information can be found on the City Sparkasse Solingen's official website. A former apprentice shares their journey within the Sparkasse, offering personal experiences and valuable tips to the new colleagues.

As is common in German Sparkassen, the apprenticeship program includes a structured induction phase covering both practical work experience in different departments and theoretical training, often in cooperation with vocational schools. It also features mentoring, regular evaluations, and programs for professional development.

However, for precise and up-to-date details about the City Sparkasse Solingen apprenticeship program, including their training and induction, contacting the bank directly or visiting their official website would be necessary.

The new apprentices will be given comprehensive IT training, aiding them in handling technical systems from day one. In addition, their educational journey will extend beyond banking, as they'll receive business etiquette training and customer basics, ensuring a well-rounded education-and-self-development experience.
