Gauteng's Connected Schools Initiative Boosts Winterveldt High with Tech Donation

A collaborative initiative involving education officials, advisors, teachers, and school leadership has kicked off in Gauteng. The aim? To create an optimal educational environment for learners and educators. Key players include the Telkom Foundation, various government departments, and private entities. The project, which began in 2017, has already reached over 7,000 beneficiaries.

One of the latest beneficiaries is Winterveldt High School in Winterveldt. The school received a boost with the donation of 31 computers and 34 chairs, courtesy of Cllr. Mncedi Ndzwanana, the Speaker of Council. This donation is part of Ndzwanana's vision to foster a technologically adept generation.

The initiative, dubbed the Connected Schools program by the Telkom Foundation, provides more than just hardware. It offers academic support, psychosocial care, and digital literacy skills to both learners and educators. Winterveldt High School's Acting Principal and Deputy Principal Ubisse Simon Felix expressed their appreciation for the computers, stating they would enhance educational delivery.

The collaboration involved entities such as the Telkom Foundation, Tshwane North College, CoGTA, Eskom, the Gauteng Department of Education, and BDO South Africa. With the support of these entities, Cllr. Ndzwanana's initiative is poised to continue transforming educational landscapes. The computers and chairs at Winterveldt High School are not just tools; they are stepping stones towards a digital future for the school's students.
