The Conservatives couldn't secure a victory for their esteemed leader, Pierre Poilievre, as a government, but they certainly managed to create a formidable wall against the Liberals in the 2025 Canadian federal election. The Conservative Party of Canada showed promising growth, gaining almost 30 additional seats by the night's end, as their supporters rejoiced, laughed, and shed tears in a rollercoaster of emotions.

Poilievre took the stage after midnight at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa, addressing the crowd, "It's an honor to continue fighting for you because it's an honor to be your voice, it's an honor to fight for the conservative values you voted for, and above all, it will be an honor to continue advancing Canada's promise," he declared with passionate determination.

At the time of his speech, his Liberal opponent, Bruce Fanjoy, held a lead of nearly 2500 votes in the riding of Carleton, located in the federal capital region, but the lengthy ballot committee likely delayed the vote count, featuring a staggering 91 candidates.

The Conservatives celebrated securing about 20 more MPs than in 2021, gaining the highest popular vote since 1988, and preventing the Liberal Party and NDP from forming a coalition. However, preliminary results indicated that such an alliance might be possible.

Incidentally, the candidate in the riding of Toronto-St. Paul's, Don Stewart, did not manage to keep his seat, sparking the first wave of discontent within the Liberal caucus. The race was tight in the fresh ridings of Milton-East-Halton Hills-South and Brampton-South.

Some NDP votes also migrated to the Conservatives, contributing to their victory in Timmins, northern Ontario, as well as the ridings of Kapuskasing-Timmins-Mushkegowuk, Elmwood-Transcona, Manitoba, and British Columbia, where they unseated Lisa Marie Barron and were on track to take Alistair McGregor's seat.

However, his campaign faced setbacks; he had to dismiss six candidates, including three in Quebec, due in part to inappropriate social media posts. The party also refrained from fielding a candidate in Quebec-Centre against Minister Jean-Yves Duclos due to a nomination issue.
