Homburg Bolsters Emergency Preparedness with 13 Info Points
Homburg, a city in Saarland, has bolstered its crisis preparedness with an impressive network of emergency information points. These 13 locations, equipped with backup power generators and satellite phones, ensure communication and assistance during emergencies. Mayor Michael Forster commended the initiative, emphasising its significance for citizens.
Each emergency information point is staffed by at least two firefighters, ready to provide vital information and facilitate emergency calls. Notably, points at fire stations are equipped with backup power supplies, crucial for those reliant on medical devices.
The locations are clearly marked with eye-catching red signs and tripod lighting, while QR codes direct users to an informative overview page. A demonstration at the Jägersburg fire station showcased the setup to local officials and firefighters. Additionally, mobile points of contact in the form of fire vehicles will be deployed at prominent city locations, serving as central hubs for information, aid, and emergency calls during crises such as power outages or infrastructure failures. The city's plans also include expanding the siren network and acquiring satellite telephones to further enhance emergency communication.
Homburg's comprehensive emergency preparedness measures, including 13 information points equipped with backup power and satellite phones, ensure the city is well-positioned to handle crises. The initiative, praised by Mayor Michael Forster, prioritises the safety and well-being of Homburg's citizens.
