Kassel's Career Mentoring Project Thrives Amidst Corona, Helping 26 Youth Secure Apprenticeships

The Career Mentoring Project in Kassel, sponsored by the Employment Promotion Association (AGiL) and funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, has been supporting young people in their career orientation since 2010. Despite local volunteering restrictions, volunteers have continued to provide invaluable support, helping 26 mentees find apprenticeships and complete training.

The project, known as 'tandems for a time', pairs volunteers with young people to provide guidance in career choice, application writing, and interview preparation. Since its inception, over 80 volunteers have participated, establishing more than 170 mentorships. Volunteers resumed training for job interviews in schools at the start of the school year, demonstrating their commitment to supporting young people's career development.

Brigitte Vogler, the project's coordinator, can be reached for volunteering opportunities at Tel. 0561-1003-1275 or [email protected]. AGiL Managing Director André Franke recently thanked the volunteers, some of whom have been involved for over a decade. The project concluded with a thank-you event, featuring an organ tour at St. Martin's Church led by Music Director Eckard Manz for 30 participants.

The Career Mentoring Project in Kassel continues to make a significant impact on young people's lives, even amidst local volunteering restrictions. With over a decade of experience, the project has seen the involvement of numerous people and the establishment of many successful mentorships. The project's future looks promising, with dedicated volunteers and supportive institutions ensuring its continued success.
