Kazakhstan Celebrates 175th Birthday of Poet Zhambyl Zhabaev
Today, Kazakhstan celebrates the 175th anniversary of the birth of Zhambyl Zhabaev, a revered poet and national hero. Born on February 28, 1846, and named after the mountain Zhambyl, Zhabaev's works are considered part of the golden fund of world culture. To mark this significant celebration, over 500 projects will be implemented across Kazakhstan. The celebrations are led by high-ranking officials, including Minister of Culture and Sports Aidarbekov Dauren and Chairman of the Zhambyl Regional Executive Committee Yernur Amankulov. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has established a state commission for the occasion, chaired by State Secretary Kairbek Suleimenov. Zhabaev's poetry, known for praising human qualities like patriotism and loyalty, has had a profound impact. He learned the art of improvisation from the akyn Sуюnbay and won several aitys against prominent akyns. His son, poet Algaida Zhambylov, also made significant contributions, dying while liberating the city of Sinelnikovo during World War II. The 175th anniversary of Zhambyl Zhabaev serves as a reminder of his enduring influence on Kazakh culture and heritage. Through various projects and celebrations, his legacy continues to inspire and unite the nation.
