Kazakhstan's Prestigious 'Altyn Belgi' Award Drives Teaching Boom in 2025
In 2025, over 2,000 recipients of the prestigious 'Altyn Belgi' award chose to enter the teaching profession, making up nearly a quarter of all awardees. This surge in educators comes amidst a broader trend of increased interest in the education department in Kazakhstan.
The 'Altyn Belgi' award, established in 2004/2005, has traditionally honoured educators and professionals in pedagogical fields for their outstanding contributions to education. The shift in 2025, with over 2,000 awardees entering teaching, signals a significant boost in the sector's appeal.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, over 10,000 young specialists joined the education sector, further swelling its ranks. To support this influx, special programs and methodological materials have been developed to aid new teaching specialists.
The 'With a Diploma to the Village' program continues to play a role in attracting staff to rural regions, ensuring a balanced distribution of educators across Kazakhstan.
The doubling of the scholarship for students of pedagogical specialties to 84,000 tenge, coupled with the increased recognition and support for educators, is expected to further stimulate interest in the teaching profession. These initiatives reflect Kazakhstan's commitment to investing in and valuing its education department.
