Lin-Manuel Miranda utilizes Hamilton's 10th anniversary to launch a fundraiser for immigration-related services
In an extraordinary display of philanthropy and solidarity, the 10th anniversary Broadway performance of the acclaimed musical "Hamilton" has been transformed into a significant fundraiser for the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition. The event, which took place on August 6, 2025, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, aimed to raise funds for 14 leading immigrant-servicing organizations across the United States.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and original star of Hamilton, spearheaded the initiative as a celebration of immigrant contributions to the U.S. and a stand against negative narratives surrounding immigration. The fundraiser garnered substantial support, raising an impressive $3 million from over 125,000 donors as of July 2025.
The special Hamilton performance was the highlight event of the fundraiser. Entry was primarily via a Prizeo sweepstakes, where donors gave at least $10, with a few dozen VIP packages, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, also available through the Hispanic Federation. Some invites were given to winners selected from the sweepstakes.
The Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition brings together 14 leading immigrant-serving organizations that provide critical services to vulnerable immigrant communities. These organizations focus on legal services, advocacy, support for immigrant rights, and protection for children and vulnerable populations.
The funds raised by the coalition will empower these nonprofits to continue and expand their lifesaving and life-affirming work on the ground. This includes challenging anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric, providing legal defenses and support for immigrants and asylum seekers, uplifting immigrant voices and narratives, and offering direct services to immigrant families and individuals facing detention, deportation, and discrimination.
The coalition and fundraiser have been described as a rallying point in the face of recent punitive immigration policies, emphasizing immigrants' critical role in America's past, present, and future prosperity. Kica Matos, president of the National Immigration Law Center, plans to use the donations from the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition to support its Defending Democracy initiative.
The resonance of the line "Immigrants: We get the job done" continues to evoke a joyous response from the audience, causing the show to add extra music to wait for the audience to calm down. This fundraiser is a testament to the power of art and community in supporting those in need and standing up for what is right.
