Lumbini Technological University Expands to Postgraduate Education
Lumbini Technological University, a relatively new addition to Nepal's educational landscape, is making significant strides in its mission to provide quality education. Established in Nepalgunj on Asar 18, 2079, under the Pride Project of the Government of Lumbini Province, the university has been operating from three buildings leased from the Agricultural Development Bank's regional office in Dhamboji since Poush.
The university has now completed all preparations for postgraduate classes, according to Registrar Reg Bahadur Bhandari. The upcoming academic year will see the introduction of two postgraduate programs: MTech in IT and MTech in Computer Science.
The eligibility criteria for these programs are straightforward. Students who have completed undergraduate degrees in BCA, BIM, BIT, ICT Education, or BBIS are eligible for MTech in IT, while those with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering can apply for MTech in Computer Science.
The entrance exam for these postgraduate programs is scheduled for Jestha 17. Due to a higher number of applicants, the university plans to enroll 20 students per program in the first year, instead of the initially allocated 15 seats each for both programs.
Lumbini Technological University began undergraduate teaching in four different programs under the Institute of Engineering and Information Technology from the fiscal year 2080/81. Currently, the university is offering four undergraduate programs: BTech in IT, B.Tech in Computer Science and AI, B.Tech in IT Engineering, and B.Tech in Civil Engineering. A total of 165 students are enrolled, with the first batch being in the fourth semester.
The university's vision is to offer result-driven learning, employment-oriented instruction, and produce socially responsible graduates. Lumbini Technological University aims to provide a conducive environment for students to excel academically and professionally.
The Dean's Office of Engineering and Information Technology also operates from this location, ensuring a seamless coordination between administrative and academic operations. Despite being newly established, Lumbini Technological University is moving ahead to offer postgraduate education within a short period, demonstrating its commitment to quality education and student success.
