Malaysia & WEF to Define Southeast Asia's Intelligent Age Strategy

The 'Powering the Intelligent Age' summit, co-hosted by the Malaysia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MYCentre4IR) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), is set to take place in Kuala Lumpur on 28 October 2025. The event aims to define Southeast Asia's approach to the Intelligent Age through common rules and cross-border partnerships. Key areas of focus include advancing shared frameworks for AI governance, clean industrial pathways, and inclusive digital growth.

Malaysia's Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, will deliver the opening remarks and participate in a leaders' dialogue at the summit. The ASEAN AI Safety Network (ASEAN AI SAFE) will be launched as a regional platform for AI governance and ethics, with a formal declaration expected at the 47th ASEAN Leaders Summit later in October 2025.

The summit will cover a wide range of topics, including industrial transformation, digitalisation, ESG, resilient ecosystems, and regional energy cooperation. It seeks to translate policy into action and regional adoption, highlighting Malaysia and ASEAN's role in pioneering AI governance and clean industry transitions. The Transitioning Industrial Clusters (TIC) initiative will make its debut at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2026.

The 'Powering the Intelligent Age' summit, with its focus on AI governance, clean industrial pathways, and digital growth, is set to shape Southeast Asia's future in the Intelligent Age. With key stakeholders involved, including Malaysia's Minister of Digital and the WEF, the summit aims to foster common rules and scalable pilots for the region's benefit.
