NTUC Increases Green Event Instruction in Hong Kong
NTUC LearningHub's Certified Event Sustainability (CES) Programme Expands to Hong Kong and Macau
The NTUC LearningHub's Certified Event Sustainability (CES) Programme, a training initiative focused on enhancing sustainability knowledge and skills in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, has expanded its reach to Hong Kong and Macau.
The expansion is a result of a partnership between NTUC LearningHub and Earth Productions, a Hong Kong-based company that specialises in sustainable event management and consultation. This collaboration aims to train 40 professionals annually in these regions to improve sustainability capabilities in the MICE industry.
The CES Programme offers core courses such as Sustainability in MICE: Unlocking the New Horizon, Sustainability in Tourism and Event Operations, and Narrating Sustainability in Tourism and Events through Design Thinking. These courses provide frontline professionals with an overview of sustainability concepts, practical skills for driving sustainability practices in events, planning and managing sustainability reporting, and using tools to measure environmental and social impacts.
Online learning resources via the NTUC LearningHub Learning eXperience Platform (LXP) will be provided to overseas trainees, featuring case studies and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting and policy templates specifically for the Asia-Pacific region.
Earth Productions brings valuable regional insights on sustainability and event management to the partnership, complementing NTUC LearningHub’s expertise as Singapore’s leading provider of continuing education and training. This alliance represents a significant step towards advancing sustainability workforce development aligned with global and regional sustainability goals, including the Singapore Green Plan.
In Singapore, the CES programme has over 150 graduates to date, with over a hundred more undergoing the programme. The partnership was formalized through an agreement signed at the Singapore MICE Forum in 2025, witnessed by SACEOS (Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers) president Richard Ireland.
Mr Matthew Mak, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Earth Productions, expressed excitement about bringing the CES programme to Hong Kong and the rest of the region, including Macau. He stated that the programme will enable professionals to gain valuable expertise and thrive in a sustainable and future-forward MICE industry, as Earth Productions prioritizes a "sustainability-first" approach.
Tay Ee Learn, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Sector Skills Officer of NTUC LearningHub, stated that the programme aligns with the Singapore Green Plan and advances a global mission through continuous workforce skills development.
In summary, the NTUC LearningHub's CES Programme strengthens the sustainability capabilities in the region’s events industry by providing practical tools and knowledge for sustainable event planning and management.
Education and self-development in the MICE industry is a key focus of the expanded NTUC LearningHub's Certified Event Sustainability (CES) Programme, which aims to train 40 professionals annually in Hong Kong and Macau through core courses like Sustainability in MICE, Sustainability in Tourism and Event Operations, and Narrating Sustainability in Tourism and Events through Design Thinking.
Personal growth and learning opportunities are offered to these professionals as they gain valuable expertise and contribute to a sustainable and future-forward MICE industry, in line with the priority of a "sustainability-first" approach advocated by Earth Productions.
