In the Krasnodar region of Russia, preparations for the upcoming school year are well underway. According to recent surveys, 62% of parents begin their back-to-school shopping in early August, with 29% of Kuban residents planning to go shopping for back-to-school items in mid to late August.

One notable trend this year is a shift in priorities. Many parents in Krasnodar and Kuban have decided to forgo pencil cases, opting to lighten their bags instead. Budgeting an additional 3-4 thousand rubles for stationery, including notebooks for all subjects, pens, pencil sets, and materials for art and technology classes is recommended.

When it comes to school uniforms, light-colored, lightweight, natural fabric options are popular, with 72% of parents in the Krasnodar region choosing these for their children. The basic set for girls includes a dress or skirt, blouses, a jumper, socks, a sports suit, school and sports shoes, and accessories like hairpins, rubber bands, and ribbons. The set for boys includes a waistcoat, several pairs of pants, light shirts, a jumper, a sports suit, t-shirts, socks, sneakers, and boots.

Interestingly, woolen sweaters, jackets, and thick pants are the least popular items for school uniforms at the start of the school year, bought by only 15% of respondents. School uniforms for Krasnodar parents are expected to cost between 12-17 thousand rubles.

In terms of backpacks, 65% of parents in Krasnodar and Kuban prefer orthopedic models and are willing to spend an average of 2-4 thousand rubles on them.

The region also shows a strong online shopping activity, likely reflecting the availability of back-to-school items through e-commerce. However, detailed, up-to-date data on preferences or budget for uniforms, accessories, and stationery in 2025 is not available.

Another significant change is the decline in the use of paper notebooks, with 80% of schools already using electronic alternatives. By 2025, only 38% of Kuban residents are expected to leave their back-to-school shopping until the last minute.
