Pashinyan Slams 'Zangezur Corridor' Term, Vows to Protect Armenian Sovereignty

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has spoken out against the use of the term 'Zangezur Corridor' in negotiations with Azerbaijan. During a visit to Strasbourg, Pashinyan met with Council of Europe officials and praised Armenia's democratic progress.

Pashinyan clarified that the term 'Zangezur Corridor' has never been part of official Armenia-Azerbaijan discussions. He warned that its use without Armenian consent is a violation of the country's sovereignty. The phrase, previously known in Azerbaijani political and military circles, was recently mentioned by a PACE delegate, drawing Pashinyan's condemnation.

Pashinyan acknowledged challenges in Armenia's democracy, such as voter bribery and disinformation campaigns. However, he expressed confidence in the country's democratic future, with the people acting as its ultimate guardians. He also praised Armenia's relationship with the Council of Europe and stressed the need for agreement with the Armenian government on any projects affecting Armenian territory.

Pashinyan's visit to Strasbourg highlighted Armenia's commitment to democratic governance and its opposition to unilateral decisions affecting its sovereignty. The Armenian Prime Minister's meetings with Council of Europe officials underscored the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in international relations.
