Program preparation for the timeframe of 2000-06 was also overseen by the Commission.
In a day filled with enlightenment and inspiration, three students from the Sophie-Scholl-Community School in Dillingen and Leni from the Lothar-Kahn Community School in Rehlingen-Siersburg embarked on a journey to Saarlouis. Their mission: to learn about future-proof careers.
Their day began at the Esther-Bejarano-House, a facility that provides a supportive environment for women and children with a migration background. Here, they were welcomed by Social Pedagogue Ines Spies-Fritzen, who explained the various activities and services offered, including the 'background remover' program designed to help individuals overcome barriers.
Accompanying the students were Martina Coniglio, the Equal Opportunities Officer at the Saarlouis Employment Office, and Lisa Paulus from the county's personnel department. Martina, who coordinates and supports activities for the Girls' Day in the Saarlouis district, was there to promote gender equality and encourage girls to explore career opportunities in various fields.
At the Esther-Bejarano-House, the students were introduced to the 'Walmart careers' project, a programme designed to offer practical help and a platform for exchange and networking for women with a migration background.
The day's programme continued with a visit to Startbahn 25, a facility operated jointly by the Diakonisches Werk an der Saar gGmbH, the 3B - Begleiten, Bilden, Begegnen gGmbH, and the job center in Saarlouis. Upon arrival, they received a warm welcome from CEO Torsten Balge and department head Alexander Döring.
Startbahn 25 supports young people in their transition from school to work, offering insights into careers in the social and administrative sectors. The students had the opportunity to meet the Migra team, which specifically supports people with a migration background, and experienced the intensive and individual work done at Startbahn 25, including the use of Adobe Express for creative projects.
The visit concluded with the students learning about various career opportunities. It is likely that during their visit to Startbahn 25, these young minds developed their own first ideas for their future careers.
The students' day started at the job center's entrance zone, the first point of contact for many people with various needs. This initial encounter provided a valuable perspective on the diverse range of individuals seeking assistance and the crucial role the job center plays in their lives.
In all, the students' journey through Saarlouis was an enriching experience, offering them insights into the world of work and the opportunities available to them. They left with a newfound understanding and perhaps even a spark of inspiration for their future careers.
