Programmer Position: Full Stack Developer with Ruby/Rails Expertise
Doximity, a leading digital platform for U.S. medical professionals, is seeking a pragmatic software engineer with a passion for Ruby and Rails to join their team. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a mission-critical healthtech platform that serves over 2 million U.S. medical professionals.
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer at Doximity, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining features within a large Rails monolith application. Your role will involve working across the full stack—both backend and frontend—to build scalable, efficient, and well-tested software that supports Doximity’s communication, workflow, and telehealth tools.
The Doximity platform is based on a 15-year-old Ruby on Rails monolith (now running Rails 7). Your responsibilities will include contributing to and managing a complex Rails codebase with over 30,000 commits, supporting 45+ applications under one monolith. You will utilise Rails MVC architecture and convention-over-configuration principles to rapidly prototype, iterate, and deliver new features.
You will write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following Rails best practices, including usage of built-in tools such as Active Job for background processing and the Rails console for debugging in staging and production environments. Collaboration with a large development team (150+ developers) will be key to deploying new code frequently (80+ deploys per day) ensuring minimal downtime and seamless feature delivery.
In addition, you will evolve the application through zero-downtime database migrations using advanced Rails tools and polymorphism to handle large datasets. Cross-team coordination will be essential to understand product requirements and troubleshoot issues in production. Supporting scalability and reliability, especially during high-demand periods, is also a crucial part of this role, as demonstrated by scaling their Dialer telehealth tool engineering team rapidly during the pandemic.

The US total compensation range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $175,000 (inclusive of salary + equity).
