Pushkin Cards in Khabarovsk Exploited by Fraudsters Targeting Children

Over 99,000 'Pushkin cards' have been sold in the Khabarovsk region, but the cards are now being misused by fraudsters targeting children. The cards, meant for cultural development, have been exploited for cash withdrawals, raising alarm among local authorities.

Scammers are convincing minors to reveal their 'Pushkin card' details, including the card number, expiration date, and the three-digit code. Once obtained, the fraudsters withdraw funds and block the victim's social media accounts or phone numbers to prevent detection. This misuse of the cards is illegal, as they are not intended for cash withdrawals.

While the 'Pushkin card' initiative aims to promote cultural development among schoolchildren, not all recipients find ways to spend the funds, particularly in rural areas. This has led to an increase in the 'Pushkin cards' available for misuse by fraudsters.

Authorities in the Khabarovsk region are investigating the misuse of 'Pushkin cards' by scammers targeting children. No organization has yet proposed a solution to prevent further exploitation of the cards. Meanwhile, parents and guardians are urged to educate their children about the risks of sharing personal information and the proper use of the 'Pushkin card'.
