Regional Sports Competitions Held by SIMATS for School Pupils in Chennai
The bustling city of Chennai played host to the SIMATS Trophy 2025, a regional-level sports competition for school students, on 25th July 2025. This event, held at the SIMATS Sports Complex, was a spectacle of athletic prowess and camaraderie, attracting over 4500 students from 100+ schools across Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur districts.
The competition, organised by SIMATS University - a premier private institution in India renowned for its contributions to medical, dental, engineering, and allied health sciences education - saw participants competing in various sports such as Kho-Kho, Football, Volleyball, Throwball, and Athletics events like 100m, 400m, 800m races, long jump, shot put, and the 4x100m relay.
The event, under the visionary leadership of Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor of SIMATS, was graced by several dignitaries. Notable attendees included Ms. E. Christy Elena, an International Medalist and Hockey Player, Dr. S.N. Udheyakumar, Chief Coach of the Asian Archery Team and Founder of DOXA Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. and Eagle Archery Academy, and Mr. A. Manoharan, an International Volleyball Player.
Medals and certificates were distributed to all winners of the mega event. In addition to individual awards, the "School with Maximum Participation" trophy and the prestigious "Overall SIMATS Trophy" for the best-performing school were also presented.
