Restarting and continuing forward: a renewal.

In the heart of Innsbruck, the Stadtbibliothek will host an enlightening event as part of the Innsbrucker Gender Lectures series and the Feminist City Talks. The graphic novel 'The Woman as Human' by Ulli Lust will be the focus of the conversation, moderated by Boris Schön.

'The Woman as Human' is a powerful narrative that combines images and text, offering a fresh perspective on complex content. The novel takes a feminist approach, journeying back to the Stone Age, and was awarded the German Non-Fiction Prize in 2025.

Ulli Lust, born in Vienna in 1967, is a renowned comic artist who lives and works in Berlin. She studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee from 1999 to 2004, following previous studies in Austria.

Joining Lust in this discussion is Levke Harders, a professor of gender history at the University of Innsbruck and the deputy director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Research Innsbruck (CGI). Harders is particularly interested in the (unequal) living conditions and scope of action of people since the late 18th century. She is enthusiastic about the visual implementation of topics, both as a reader and as a scientist.

The conversation between Lust and Harders will delve into the potential of visual narratives, the connection of art and science, and the question of how biographies, bodies, and power relations can and should be told today. The event promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of memory, visibility, and the freedom to rethink history.

The Stadtbibliothek Innsbruck is a Green Events Tirol location, encouraging eco-friendly arrivals. Induction loop is available in the event room, and all rooms are barrier-free.

Reserving a seat for the event can be done by calling 43 512 5360 5700. The event may include workshops, colloquia, or conferences, making it an exciting opportunity for those interested in gender studies, graphic novels, and the intersection of art and science.

This event is a cooperation between Science and Responsibility and the Stadtbibliothek Innsbruck, promising a thoughtful and engaging evening. Don't miss out on this chance to engage with the powerful narrative of 'The Woman as Human' and the insightful perspectives of Ulli Lust and Levke Harders.
