Santa and Reindeer Visit Mannheim's ABC-Schützen Traffic Safety Event

Mannheim's annual ABC-Schützen action, a traffic safety initiative for first-graders, concluded recently. The event, supported by the city, police headquarters, and KVW Mannheim, saw high-ranking guests including Mayor Dr. Proffen and Deputy Police President Gigliotti. A highlight was a visit from Santa and his reindeer, 'Jingle', at the Rheinauschule.

The interactive theater performance at the Rheinauschule was adapted to include 'Jingle', Santa, and a police officer. Jingle claimed it was his first watch working with Santa, having arrived late due to heavy traffic. Santa arrived shortly after and asked the police officer to explain safe street crossing with the children.

Important traffic rules were established and practiced with the children, police officers, and city employees. The background of the ABC-Schützen action, involving the Mannheim Police Department, was to educate and prepare first-graders for safe behavior in traffic and daily life, focusing on awareness, self-confidence, and protection. The action also included exercises on violence prevention and self-defense to strengthen children's personal boundaries and safety skills. The event was a great success, with 134 first-graders having a surprise visit from Santa tracker during a police officer's presentation.

The annual ABC-Schützen action in Mannheim, which took place from November 25 to December 13, sensitized first-graders to proper road traffic behavior. With the support of the city, police, and KVW Mannheim, the event provided a fun and educational experience for the children, culminating in a surprise visit from Santa and his reindeer, Jingle.
