SSC CGL Exam Postponed and Rescheduled: Key Reforms Announced
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced that the revised date for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 exam will be announced in due course. This decision comes after the postponement of the exam, which was originally scheduled for August 13, due to operational issues reported with the introduction of a new Computer-Based Test (CBT) vendor.
The postponement was necessary to address technical glitches and operational issues encountered in prior SSC computer-based exams like the Selection Posts Phase 13 exam. These issues included login failures, server crashes, questions not loading correctly, and last-minute cancellations at certain centres.
In response to the Supreme Court's directions regarding Computer-Based Examinations (CBEs), the SSC has implemented several key reforms. These reforms aim to enhance the reliability, transparency, and fairness of the SSC's computer-based examination process.
One of the reforms is the reopening of the One-Time Registration (OTR) edit facility from August 14 to August 31, 2025. This edit window ensures that candidate information is accurate and final for all future SSC exams, addressing concerns about data handling and candidate registration integrity.
Another reform is the postponement of the SSC CGL 2025 exam to the first week of September 2025. This extra time allows the SSC to address technical glitches and operational issues, as well as to evaluate and upgrade the SSC exam platform and its functionality.
The SSC has also issued a revised exam calendar for SSC CGL 2025 along with other SSC exams such as CHSL and MTS to reflect new dates and improved examination protocols.
To streamline communication and reduce delays in handling candidate requests, the SSC has provided a help desk for candidate queries via phone and email. Physical representations have been discontinued.
Candidates are advised to visit the official SSC website regularly for updates on admit cards and city intimation slips. The SSC CGL Admit Card 2025 is tentatively scheduled to be released on 10 August 2025.
The SSC CGL 2025 exam is divided into two stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 of the SSC CGL exam comprises four sections: General Awareness, English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. A total of 100 objective type questions will be asked in Tier 1 of the SSC CGL exam, with each question carrying 2 marks. The total marks for Tier 1 are 200.
Candidates are encouraged to continue focusing on their preparation during this extra time. The Fee Payment Last Date for SSC CGL 2025 was 5 July 2025 (11 pm). The Application Form Correction Dates for SSC CGL 2025 were 9 to 11 July 2025 (11 pm).
The postponement is due to directions from the Supreme Court, which advised SSC to implement key reforms in the way Computer-Based Examinations (CBEs) are conducted. The direct link to the SSC CGL Postponed Notice can be found on the related stories section of the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in.
It is important to note that the SSC Selection Post Exam, which took place from July 24 to August 1 at 194 exam centres, will be re-conducted. Candidates are advised to stay updated on the official SSC website for further details.
Engaging in education and self-development is beneficial for candidates preparing for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam, as the extra time given, due to the postponement, allows for comprehensive preparation. This time also enables the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to address technical glitches and operational issues, ensuring a more reliable and transparent examination process.
