NLU Delhi Reduces AILET Application Fees and Offers Full Scholarship for AIR 1 Holder
National Law University (NLU), Delhi has announced exciting changes for the AILET 2026 exam. The university has reduced the application fees for the exam and offers a full scholarship to the candidate who secures All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in the AILET 2026 exam.
Full Scholarship for AIR 1 Holder
The full scholarship offered by NLU Delhi for the B.A LL.B. (Hons.) programme is awarded to the candidate who secures AIR 1 in the AILET 2026 exam. This scholarship covers all tuition fees for the first academic year of the programme.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualify as the AIR 1 holder in the AILET 2026 exam.
- Meet the general eligibility for B.A. LL.B. admission, which requires passing the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or equivalent with minimum marks of 45% (42% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST).
- Appearing candidates for the 12th board exam in 2026 are eligible to apply for AILET.
Application Process
Candidates can apply for AILET 2026 through the online application portal, which opened on August 7, 2025. The deadline for submitting applications is November 10, 2025.
The application fees have been reduced, with general category candidates paying ₹3,000. Reduced fees or exemptions are available for certain categories, including women and SC/ST candidates under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category who pay no fee.
Admission to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme is based strictly on merit determined by AILET scores. The AIR 1 candidate will automatically receive the full tuition fee waiver scholarship for the first year after securing the rank.
Additional Details
The annual tuition fee for the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course at NLU Delhi is ₹1,56,000. The AIR 1 scholarship recipient will have this fee waived for the first year. Other fees like admission fee, academic services, welfare fund, and refundable deposit are separate and may not be fully waived by the scholarship.
Making Legal Education More Accessible
These changes are part of NLU Delhi's ongoing initiative to make legal education more accessible. The reduced application fees for AILET 2026 apply to both General and SC/ST/PwD categories. The General category application fee has been reduced from ₹3,500 to ₹3,000, while the fees for SC, ST, and PwD categories have been reduced from ₹1,500 to ₹1,000.
