School registration for the 2026/2027 academic year at the municipal level begins in early September.
The city of Bottrop has announced the commencement of the school enrollment process for the academic year 2026/2027. Children who will reach the age of six by September 30, 2026, are required to attend school.
All legal guardians of eligible children will receive the necessary enrollment documents by mail at the beginning of September. The documents include an enrollment form, an additional sheet, an information brochure, and a prepaid envelope for returning the documents.
Parents of children to be enrolled early or from outside the city will receive the enrollment documents directly from the Department of School and Daycare. For those enrolling online, there is no need to return the enrollment form and additional sheet by mail. Instructions for online enrollment are included with the documents.
Parents will receive a separate appointment notice from the respective school for the personal presentation of their child. The personal presentation of the child at the chosen elementary school is scheduled between October 27 and November 14.
Early enrollment is possible provided the children meet the necessary physical and mental requirements and are sufficiently socially developed. Parents have the option to enroll their children early if they reach the age of six after October 1, 2026.
The city administration encourages parents to complete the enrollment process promptly. The deadline for sending completed enrollment forms is September 23.
For parents who reside outside the city of Bottrop, the school authority responsible for registering children is the Bottrop school administration office (Schulverwaltung Bottrop).
The school enrollment process in Bottrop aims to ensure a smooth transition for both children and parents as they embark on this new educational journey. For more information, parents are advised to carefully read the enclosed information brochure and follow the instructions provided.
