Southgate Joins Read Ready Initiative to Boost Kindergarten Readiness

EducateNKY has united all six Northern Kentucky River Cities in support of the Read Ready initiative. Southgate, the latest city to join, has launched Read Ready Southgate with a commitment to enhancing kindergarten readiness. The initiative aims to connect families with resources and foster community partnerships.

Southgate Mayor Jim Hamberg underscored the city's dedication to providing every child with a strong start in life through early learning. The Read Ready Southgate effort will be guided by a local coordinating group comprising city officials, schools, and community partners. This collaborative approach aligns with EducateNKY's support, which includes technical assistance, funding guidance, and collaboration opportunities for Southgate's initiative.

The Read Ready movement seeks to improve kindergarten readiness by building on existing programs and aligning resources. It connects families to opportunities within their city, fostering a supportive learning environment. Southgate Superintendent Greg Duty emphasized the importance of the city and schools working together to achieve this goal.
