Wiesbaden's WiesPaten Project Strengthens Community Ties and Boosts Youth Development

The Wiesbaden student sponsorship initiative, WiesPaten, is making a significant impact in the lives of young people by providing them with valuable support and opportunities for growth. This project, which has been active for 15 years, is a collaborative effort between schools, student mentors, and sponsoring companies such as the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

The WiesPaten project offers a win-win situation for all parties involved. Pupils benefit from personalised support that helps improve their education and future prospects. The student mentors, who are committed young individuals, develop their social and leadership skills while interacting with younger pupils. Sponsors and schools, on the other hand, gain enhanced engagement with youth, fostering equal opportunities and fulfilling their societal responsibility for education and career development.

The initiative is supported by local institutions like WICM GmbH and IHK Wiesbaden. The recent 15th anniversary celebration of WiesPaten underscores its established role in the community and reflects a commitment from the business community to actively promote the development of young talent in Wiesbaden.

WiesPaten operates on a foundation of trust and appreciation, built through shared experiences. The programme offers intensive small group lessons and personal encounters for young people with student teachers and Wiesbaden company representatives. Last year, participating students visited the RheinMain CongressCenter, attended "Wiesbaden on Ice" at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, received support for their final presentations, and took part in the WiesPaten summer festival.

The partnership between Wiesbaden and WiesPaten has been facilitated by IHK Wiesbaden, which has supported the initiative for several years. The Mayor and Economic Affairs Commissioner, Christiane Hinninger, expressed her support for the partnership, stating that it provides concrete support to young people. IHK Wiesbaden, in its first patronage, emphasises that the economy has a responsibility towards society and the promotion of young talent, and they are glad to fulfil it through their participation in WiesPaten.

Simon Rottloff, WICM's proxy and sustainability responsible, expressed that the WiesPaten project benefits both the students and the patron company. The partnership includes regular meetings between students, student teachers, and employees of the two patron institutions.

For any questions or inquiries about WiesPaten, citizens can contact the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden or visit their website at www.wiesbaden.de. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden is the publisher of the press release about WiesPaten.

The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden emphasises the importance of supporting young people and promoting young talent, but does not explicitly state that this is part of their DNA or that their commitment to WiesPaten is an important pillar for them. Sabine Meder, CEO of IHK Wiesbaden, however, stated that supporting young people is part of their DNA and that their commitment to WiesPaten is an important pillar for them.

WiesPaten is a shining example of a community coming together to support and nurture the next generation. By connecting pupils with student mentors and partnering companies, WiesPaten is enhancing educational chances, creating networks, and strengthening community ties in Wiesbaden.
