Three decades of academic exchange between Pforzheim and Vicenza have been consistently implemented.

In a joyous celebration, students from both Kepler-Gymnasium in Pforzheim, Germany, and Istituto Tecnico Europeo Guido Piovene in Vicenza, Italy, have come together for a week-long exchange programme that marks the 30th anniversary of their mutual encounters.

Since last Saturday, 14 Italian students have been visiting their exchange partners at the Kepler-Gymnasium. This annual event serves to promote cultural understanding, language skills, and educational cooperation between the two cities, which have been sister cities for decades.

The exchange programme, organised by Ada Deflorio, an Italian teacher, aims to foster intercultural dialogue and learning about each other's language and cultural and regional peculiarities. The students will participate in lessons and extracurricular activities with their exchange partners, immersing themselves in a unique cultural exchange.

Mayor Frank Fillbrunn welcomed the students at the New Town Hall in Pforzheim on Monday, November 13. He praised the tireless efforts of the teachers involved in the student exchange and presented certificates to Heike Reifurth, the principal of Kepler-Gymnasium, and teachers from the Italian partner school to celebrate the 30th anniversary of student exchanges between Pforzheim and Vicenza.

The students will spend eventful days together in Pforzheim and its surrounding area before they return to Italy. Next week, they plan to explore the city of Pforzheim, known for its rich history and beautiful landscapes.

In the spring of 2024, a return visit to Vicenza is planned. Known as "the Gold City of Italy" due to its jewelry industry, the students look forward to exploring the city and strengthening friendships formed during this exchange.

While the specific history, objectives, and future initiatives of the Pforzheim-Vicenza student exchanges cannot be confirmed or summarised without specific sources, it is clear that this exchange programme has been a significant part of the ongoing educational and cultural ties between the two cities for the past three decades.
