Trustee body addresses political and fiscal proceedings
In the heart of autumn, Holy Cross College hosted its Fall Concert at the Prior Performing Arts Center, with the College Choir and Chamber Singers delivering captivating performances at the Luth Concert Hall.
The college has recently celebrated First Generation Week from November 4th-8th, with student organization HCF1RST hosting various events to recognise and honour first-generation students.
As global tensions rise in the lead-up to the anniversary of the October 7th massacre, Holy Cross remains committed to fostering a community marked by freedom, mutual respect, and civility.
In other news, a motion passed by the Faculty Assembly on April 30th, asking Holy Cross to disclose and divest from companies complicit in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has sparked ongoing discussions. The Board of Trustees sent an email on September 18th stating that Holy Cross cannot accommodate the Assembly's motion. It is important to note that the Board's decision not to grant the Assembly's request is not a political statement endorsing or advocating for anything other than peace.
A meeting is scheduled to take place this fall between members of the investment committee, the speaker of the faculty, and the Finance & Planning Council to discuss the Assembly's motion in more depth. President Vincent Rougeau responded to the motion on May 13th, outlining plans for ongoing dialogue about the matter.
As of the latest available information up to August 2025, the current status of Holy Cross College’s divestment from companies involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict cannot be confirmed. If you require verified details, the college’s official statements or financial disclosures would be the most direct sources to consult.
In addition, Holy Cross aims to provide a safe and purposeful environment for students during their 4 years on the campus. The college seeks to foster a community where students can grow, learn, and thrive.
Lastly, the early sunsets and chilling temperatures linger into late January and much of February, making the campus even more picturesque during the winter months. Despite the cold, the spirit of Holy Cross remains warm and inviting.
As student activism continues to rise in colleges and universities across the U.S., Holy Cross remains committed to open dialogue and fostering a community that values diversity, respect, and understanding.
