UBSE Unveils 2025-26 Class 12 Sociology Syllabus: Focus on Indian Society & Change
The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has announced the Class 12 Sociology Syllabus for the academic year 2025-26. The syllabus, designed to prepare students for higher education and societal engagement, is divided into two main parts and includes a practical work component.
Part A, Indian Society, worth 40 marks, delves into the demographic structure, social institutions, inequality, cultural diversity, and culminates in a project work. Part B, Social Change and Development in India, also worth 40 marks, explores structural and cultural change, rural and industrial society transformations, and social movements. The syllabus includes a detailed marking scheme, guiding students to allocate their study time effectively.
Practical work, valued at 20 marks, is a crucial aspect of the syllabus. It assesses students' research skills, analytical ability, and understanding of sociological concepts through a structured project. The project includes elements such as an introduction, statement of purpose, research question, methodology, data analysis, conclusion, and a viva.
The UK Board Class 12 Sociology Syllabus 2025-26 covers a broad range of topics, including the structure and diversity of Indian society, social institutions, patterns of inequality and exclusion, and social transformations. It aims to enhance students' analytical and critical thinking skills, foster research aptitude, and methodological understanding, providing a comprehensive framework for understanding Indian society and social change.
