Victorian Government Launches 'Yes to International Students Fund' for Offshore Learning
The Victorian Government has launched the 'Yes to International Students Fund' (YISF) to bolster international education partnerships and expand offshore learning opportunities. The fund, opened for applications in early March 2025, supports public universities and TAFEs in Victoria to develop innovative transnational education (TNE) models and enhance global engagement. Funded projects are expected to be completed by 30 June 2026.
Chisholm Institute received funding to provide professional development for offshore VET educators and expand accredited TNE programs in China. The institute aims to deliver localised content and bilingual support to enhance the learning experience for international students. Deakin University, on the other hand, received funding to explore new TNE arrangements and deliver professional development for partner academic staff. The university's initiative, 'Yes to International Students Fund', was launched in collaboration with partners in Sri Lanka by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Bendigo Kangan Institute received funding to establish the Automotive Centre of Excellence Cambodia (ACE-C) in Phnom Penh. The institute plans to provide industry-relevant training and education to students in Cambodia. Federation University Australia, meanwhile, received funding to develop a Co-operative Education Model with existing TNE partners. This model aims to provide industry-integrated learning experiences for students. Box Hill Institute received funding to develop and deliver a Graduate Certificate in Adult and Vocational Education across China, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The institute seeks to enhance the skills and knowledge of educators in these countries.
The YISF focuses on increasing TNE delivery, offshore education, international partnerships, and building capability for innovative offshore education models. By supporting these projects, the Victorian Government aims to strengthen its international education network and provide more opportunities for international students to learn and grow.
