VinFast Kicks Off EV Production in India, Partners with Castrol for Service Network
VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has initiated production at its inaugural overseas assembly plant in India. The facility, with an initial annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles, is set to produce the recently launched VF6 and VF7 battery-powered SUVs. In a strategic move, VinFast has also partnered with Castrol to build a robust sales and service network.
VinFast's entry into the Indian market is part of its global expansion strategy. The company aims to establish a strong presence in the country by the end of 2025, with plans to set up 35 dealerships across 27 cities. This ambitious target is supported by a memorandum of understanding signed with Castrol India Ltd to bolster aftermarket operations.
Castrol, with its extensive network of over 750 service centers, will play a pivotal role in VinFast's service ecosystem. The lubricant giant will select key outlets to provide dedicated VinFast-branded service bays, certified EV technicians, and genuine VinFast parts. Castrol will also ensure these workshops meet the necessary infrastructure and capability standards, further enhancing VinFast's service quality in India. In addition to setting up these service centers, VinFast will provide technical training, service manuals, and diagnostic tools to Castrol personnel, fostering a collaborative approach to customer service.
VinFast's production launch in India, coupled with its partnership with Castrol, marks a significant step in the company's international expansion. With a clear vision to establish a trusted service ecosystem in India, VinFast is poised to make a strong impact in the country's growing EV market. By the end of 2025, VinFast aims to have 35 dealerships in 27 cities, backed by a comprehensive aftermarket support system through its collaboration with Castrol.
