Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Conference 2025: A Global Gathering for Critical Dialogue

The Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Conference 2025, themed "Critical Inquiry, Geo-Social Connection, and International Collaboration," is set to take place from 23-25 July 2025 at Walailak University in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. This significant event is a collaboration between the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Walailak University, the Center of Geosocial and Cultural Research for Sustainable Development, Chulalongkorn University, and the University of Victoria.

The conference aims to delve into geo-social connections that transcend traditional geopolitical boundaries, focusing on the interplay between geography and society as knowledge production centres across Asia. It encourages innovative research, collaborative solutions for Asian challenges, and intellectual exploration through "inter-referencing," an analytical approach that examines shared social and political dynamics in the region.

Scholars from over 500 institutions in 15 countries are expected to participate, with representatives from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Australia set to attend. The event was recently opened by key figures including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President of Walailak University, Assoc. Prof. Surat Khompot, Acting Vice Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriporn Somboonboorana, Conference Chair, Dr. Andy Chih-Ming Wang, Chair of the IACS Society, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thiti Jamkajornkeiat from the University of Victoria, and Dr. Tipaya Peungcharoenkun, Organizing Committee Member.

Interested participants can submit proposals for individual papers or panels, with a deadline for submission on 1 November 2024. Acceptance announcements will be made on 15 February 2025, and cluster submissions are due on 30 April 2025. Proposals should clearly link to the conference theme.

The conference is part of a broader tradition of academic exchange in Asia, aligning with similar events such as the IAFOR 2025 Spring Conference in Tokyo, which engaged delegates from 52 countries. For further updates and detailed information, participants are advised to visit the official conference website at iacs2025.com or contact the organizing committees directly.
